About the artist
Ever since Hans la Faille heard Art Blakey on the radio as a little boy, he knew he wanted to become a drummer. It soon became clear that he was destined to become a musician. He grew up in Zwolle in the 50s and 60s with Herman Brood and played in the band Blues Dimension with another childhood friend, Herman Deinum. Together they joined Cuby and the Blizzards in 1969 – where they also played with the ‘other’ Herman again. Although La Faille broadened his musical horizons elsewhere from 1972 onwards, such as with Sweet d’Buster, Cyril, Flavium, Muskee Gang and Jan Akkerman, he was a member of C+B again from 1996 until the end in 2011. He then played with his own Hans la Faille’s Showbiz Bluesband and Still Believe. Now he is back in Grolloo to open the festival with Cuby songs and fellow band members, such as bassist Feico Nijdam and the original brass section, as well as singer Ralph de Jongh, who was discovered by Harry Muskee himself.
