Reykjavík might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of blues(rock), but Icelandic band KALEO have put themselves firmly on the map when it comes to the genre. Fronted by vocalist JJ Julius Son, the foursome made headlines with their 2016 album A/B and their breakthrough, multi-platinum single Way Down We Go, which was used in many TV shows, including The Blacklist, Grey’s Anatomy and Suits, as well as in computer games, and has been holding its own in The Netherlands’ prestigious Top 2000 chart since 2017. KALEO sold out headlining tours on several continents, opened for The Rolling Stones, among others, and performed at festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza. 2021 saw the release of their follow-up album Surface Sounds, but really, this is a band you have to have seen live at least once.
