About the artist

Watching Pokey LaFarge in action, you’ll think you have landed in 1920s Mississippi – in looks and sounds. The American singer-songwriter, actor and entertainer, born Andrew Heissler, discovered an appreciation for older blues musicians in his early teens. A few years later, he hitchhiked his way to the West Coast and started busking on the streets. Nowadays, LaFarge has ten studio albums to his name and is winning fans left and right with his vintage sound, which is a blend of early jazz, ragtime, Americana, country, blues and western swing. His work has been included on several soundtracks, such as Boardwalk Empire and the Netflix film The Devil All The Time, in which he played a part himself. The Netherlands is one of the places that have embraced him; LaFarge even made a live album, Live In Holland, in 2012. His latest album, Rhumba Country, was released in 2024.
