About the artist
Born from a love of soul, R&B, gospel, blues and rock ‘n’ roll, The Robert Cray Band has been going strong since 1974. Singer, songwriter and guitarist Cray, blues icon started playing in bands when he was in high school and by age 20, having seen his heroes Albert Collins, Freddie King and Muddy Waters in concert, he had started his own band. After releasing three moderately successful albums, his fourth, 1986’s Strong Persuader, gained him success worldwide – as well as hit singles such as Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark and Right Next Door (Because Of Me). Now in his early seventies, Cray is a five-time Grammy winner, has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and received the Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance. The band have released over twenty albums and sold millions worldwide.
