About the artist
Amanda Shires is an American singer-songwriter and fiddle player with nine solo albums to her name and an interesting start in life: her mom was a nurse and a barrel racer at rodeos, her dad a businessman and gold prospector. He gave her her first fiddle at a pawn shop on the condition she learned to play it. Shires taught herself, mostly playing outside as her dog would howl as she practiced. She has been playing professionally since age 15. Her latest album, 2025’s Nobody’s Girl, was inspired by her divorce from fellow musician Jason Isbell after a decade-long marriage. The two musicians worked together a lot through the years, and Shires also became part of Isbell’s backing band The 400 Unit. In 2019, she formed the country supergroup The Highwomen, along with Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, and Maren Morris. The band released their only album so far, The Highwomen, that same year.
