About the artist

Guitarist, singer and songwriter Gráinne Duffy hails from Ireland. Musically, she honors the Mississippi Delta as well as her own Celtic roots and mixes genres such as soul, blues and Americana with pop and country. With poetically crafted lyrics and an enigmatic presence, she has been lighting stages for decades. After her debut album, 2007’s Out Of The Dark, she released four more albums; the latest was 2023’s Dirt Woman Blues. Born the youngest of seven children, she found her voice early when her school’s headmaster brought her into the school and church choirs to channel her excess energy. Duffy taught herself to play guitar, heavily inspired by the bluesy riffs of Peter Green of early Fleetwood Mac. Nowadays she has a slew of blues awards and an actual PhD in Blues from Dublin City University to her name.
