Marlon Pichel

Friday 19 June

About the artist

Singing drummer Marlon Pichel may hail from modern-day Rotterdam, but his soul lies somewhere in the Mississippi Delta, and his sound is inspired by the Southern soul of the sixties. “The Upcoming King of Rock & Soul” is what he calls himself on his website. Think of the sounds of Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett, though he blends them with rock ‘n’ roll, and you can also hear a generous dose of blues in his voice. Pichel has been around for a while: he comes from a musical family and has been on stage since he was nine(!) years old. In 2019, he competed on The Voice of Holland and later signed with Danny Vera’s label. He has since released two albums: 2023’s Good Ol’ Loving’ and his new record, Took You To The Movies. A raw voice, vintage drum sound, seven-piece band with a horn section, and a huge dose of energy, passion, and nostalgia: a guaranteed success.
