The Holland International Blues Festival in Grolloo will feature Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, The Robert Cray Band, and Seasick Steve. Also confirmed are Connor Selby, D.K. Harrell, Dawn Brothers, Early James, Jenny Don’t And The Spurs, Leif de Leeuw Band, Pokey LaFarge, and Tami Neilson. This year, a second stage will be added, showcasing a total of 20 acts on 20 and 21 June.
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Bonnie Raitt experienced her big break-through in the early 1990s with her Grammy-winning albums Nick Of Time and Luck Of The Draw, featuring classic hits such as Something To Talk About and I Can’t Make You Love Me. With a style that blends blues, R&B, rock, and pop, Raitt has released 21 albums so far, and gained three more Grammys with the latest, 2022’s Just Like That… That same year, she received the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award, while this year saw her being celebrated as Kennedy Center’s 47th Class of Honorees.
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Melissa Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 with the release of her self-titled debut album. Its lead single, Bring Me Some Water, earned Etheridge her first Grammy nomination. The album also featured the track Like The Way I Do, the live version of which became her biggest hit in The Netherlands in 1992. Through the years Etheridge released critically-acclaimed albums which featured hit singles like I’m The Only One and Come To My Window, among others. In 2024 she released Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken, a two-part docuseries and accompanying live album.
His fourth album, 1986’s Strong Persuader, gained singer, songwriter and guitarist Robert Cray, blues icon success worldwide – as well as hit singles such as Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark and Right Next Door (Because Of Me). Now Cray is a five-time Grammy winner, has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and received the Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance. The band have released over twenty albums and sold millions worldwide.
With his repertoire of gritty blues rock and country blues, Seasick Steve has played pretty much every big festival in the world, has sold out many a large venue and has a knack for coming up with extraordinary album titles: his debut major-label release from 2008 was entitled I Started Out With Nothin And I Still Got Most Of It Left and 2024 saw the release of his latest album, A Trip A Stumble A Fall Down on Your Knees.
